INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIE

Right now, the following types of tourism are popular or have the potential for a more expansive development:

Mountain tourism - Mountaintourism of the Republic of Srpska has favorable natural assumptions for development as it abounds in high, medium high and low mountains and varied climate. The climate of high mountains, medium high mountains and low mountains is an assumption for various forms of mountain tourism (both summer and winter), and various motives of tourist movements - health, vacation, recreation, sport, education; various forms of surface waters: natural lakes on Zelengora and Volujak, manmade lakes - JugovoonZelengora, rivers (on Zelengora and Jahorina, etc.), streams, permanent springs and temporary springs (on almost all mountains), specific ecosystems - virgin forests: Perucica, Janj. Jahorina, Zelengora, Volujak, Maglic, Kozara, Borja, Manjaca stand out since they offer the potential for sport, health, eco, hunting, fishing, scientific, educational tourism.

Spa tourism - Republic of Srpska has nine spas with highly diverse healing potentials. However, in order to become competitive also at the global level, their potentials need to be complemented by recreational components through capital investments made in spa modernization, i.e. introduction of wellness, fitness and wellbeing programs. The spas Dvorovi (Bijeljina), Vilina Vlas (Visegrad), Ljesljani (Novi Grad), Srpske Toplice (Banja Luka), Guber (Srebrenica), Kiseljak (Zvornik) all need investment in infrastructure and superstructure in order to represent significant tourism and economic resources.

Urban tourism – Urban centers have a great need for construction of hotels of larger capacities with congress facilities and high standards, in particular Banja Luka, Trebinje, Prijedor, Doboj.

Adventure tourism - Mostly related to the rivers Drina, Tara, Una and Vrbas, with large opportunities (held 2009 World Rafting Championship and 2015 European Rafting Championship). There are also paragliding, mountaineering, cycling, as well as potential for the development of the increasingly popular canyoning. The diversity and intertwining of various forms of tourism, ecology, culture and education open a wide spectrum for creation of products that are highly demanded in present times. Additional accommodation capacities (bungalows, camps) are part of the lacking accommodation infrastructure.

Hunting and fishing tourism - Potentials of fishing tourism are increasingly used, and the most popular is the so-called fly fishing on the rivers Una, Unac, Ribnik, Ugar, Pliva, Sana and Sanica, for more information please visit www.zepterpassportflyfishing.com. The need is obvious for investing in accommodation capacities and additional facilities since there is a growing interest by foreign guests in this type of recreation.

Transit tourism - There are excellent development opportunities, in view of the extraordinary geostrategic position on the three main European corridors. Future development of infrastructure, tourist information points, thematic maps, itineraries and tourism signalization can be expected to bring about more than just a larger number of transit tourists passing through the Republic of Srpska, which will require construction of accommodation and hospitality capacities on the main transit routes.

Ecotourism - tourism in national parks and other protected areas - National parks and areas of preserved nature provide extraordinary opportunities in the Republic of Srpska for a complex tourism development. The ecotourism of the Republic of Srpska, with opportunities lying in natural beauties, also provides a quality basis for the development of a unique tourism product in an area (Sutjeska and Kozara National Parks for one).

Cultural tourism - Abundant cultural and historical heritage is a precondition and a need of today’s tourists. The territory of the Republic of Srpska abounds in attractive tangible and intangible legacy.
